      On the joyous occasion of Teacher's Day on 5th September 2018, the faculty members and students of Amity University Mumbai launched "Amity Film Club" in association with the Film Federation Societies of India. Veteran Filmmaker Shri Shyam Benegal was the chief guest for the event along with Shri. Kiran V Shantaram, President of the Film Federation Societies of India and Shri Sudhir Nandgaonkar, Vice President of Film Federation Societies of India. The event marked the launched of 41st Film Society at Amity University Mumbai.
 
 The event started with Prof. Raghava Chari's(Dean of Amity School of Communication) welcome speech the esteemed guests followed by Dr.D.S. Rao, the Vice Chancellor addressing the guests and commencing the program.
 
  The event was very enlightening for not only students as well as for the faculty members. The event started with Mr. Kiran V. Shantaram on the dias and addressing the students and respected faculty members in his address, he mentioned how film societies are way for people from different fields and different regions can gather knowledge about cinema, spread knowledge about various kinds and genres of cinema and celebrating films from all over the world. He also announced that he as the president of Film Federation Societies Of India will support this initiative by Amity University Mumbai and graced the launch of Amity Film Club with his blessings.
   Next on the dais, was Shri Sudhir Nandgaonkar who is the Vice President of Film Federation Societies Of India, he spoke about how having a Film Club in an institution like Amity University Mumbai and other such institutions can be a very good initiative for the students to learn about the history and present of the Film Industry. He also mentioned by this initiative the students of Amity University Mumbai can have more knowledge about films and will be immensely helpful for future filmmakers.
   And finally, the Chief Guest Shri Shyam Benegal addressed the audience with his kind and liberating words. In his address he mentioned how it was his initiative to take Film Clubs to Educational Institutes and he believes in the idea that the youth should be liberated with knowledge and exposure. In his address he also mentioned, "Cinema has brought the capabilities to you in a level which only writing and painting had earlier. Today, anyone can make a film; it has become an easy task. It is only about learning and imagination". He also spoke about the future of Indian cinema, he stated that while cinema as an art form has crytallized, the explosion is in a continous process of evolution. He also highlighted the role of Film Societies in promotins film culture, naming luminaries like Satyajit Ray and Chidanand Dasgupta who were instrumental in shaping the contemporary film industry in the country. 
   After the address from all our guests the logo for Amity Film Club was revealed and marked the inauguration of Amity Film Club.
    And lastly after his address with the guests the students has a small round of Q&A which made the session interactive and very enjoyable for the entire audience. The guests were then presented with caricatures of them, made by one of our most talented Head of Animation, Prof. Sudhakar Kalgutkar.
  After the event was over before leaving the guests interacted with all the faculty members students and staff members and left them with their awe of persona. The launch of Amity Film Club not only was a great event but in the end will always be memorable for Amity University Mumbai.
